Most of our patients ask if they should rinse with either mouthwash or water after brushing. Our team of professional dentists will always tell you to choose a mouthwash over water. There are very many benefits to using mouthwash instead of water. Read on to find out why we do not recommend using water when rinsing your mouth.
Why Not Use Water?
Did you know that rinsing your mouth with water after brushing is terrible for your teeth? Water washes away the fluoride that your toothpaste has left behind. As it washes the fluoride away, it carries all the benefits that the toothpaste left behind. Fluoride is an essential ingredient of toothpaste. It helps strengthen the tooth enamel and make it stronger; This makes it resistant to tooth decay. Using a mouthwash during rinsing will not dissolve the fluoride nor wash it away. With fluoride in your mouth, you are sure of having a fresh breath, strong and healthy teeth, and an enhanced smile. Alternatively, if you do not have a mouthwash, learn to spit and not rinse after brushing. It ensures that fluoride is left behind to help promote your oral health.
Rinse or Not To Rinse?
Most of our patients also ask, is it beneficial to rinse your mouth after brushing? Yes, Rising is good for debris and plaque removal out of the mouth. It leaves people confused about whether to rinse or not rinse their mouth after brushing. Try as much as possible not to rinse your mouth with water after brushing. Fluoride is essential in terms of making sure you maintain proper oral hygiene standards. If you have to rinse your mouth, then you should use mouthwash.
