What Is an In-office Whitening?
Also known as chair-side bleaching, an in-office whitening normally uses a highly concentrated bleaching agent, such as carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide, to whiten the teeth. What Causes Teeth to Become Discolored?
Over time, your teeth may become discolored from what you eat or drink. Acidic or dark-colored beverages or foods can discolor the teeth or produce surface stains. While you can remove surface stains with professional cleanings, you need something more substantial to whiten faded or discolored teeth. Other reasons for discoloration include heredity factors, vaping, smoking, or taking some medicines, such as tetracycline. Infection or trauma can also cause a tooth to turn greyish, bluish, or yellow. In some instances, a patient may not be the right candidate for in-office whitening.
