Dentures and Partials
Boise, ID

Denture and Lab moldsMaintaining the health of our teeth is important to living a healthy life. It is important for your general well-being to pay attention to your oral hygiene and regularly come into our office for cleanings or other treatments. And, when the time comes, it is equally important that you work closely with us to help determine how best to take care of missing teeth so that your quality of life is not negatively impacted. At Water’s Edge Dental, we are proud to offer a range of dentures, both full and partial, to our patients.

What are dentures?

Simply put, dentures are designed to replace missing teeth. You might be familiar with the idea. Dentures are usually removable, which makes them easy to clean and to wear. They typically boast a replacement tooth made from acrylic on an acrylic base that is colored to look like your natural gums. There are a few different types of dentures, namely full dentures and partial dentures, that we might recommend depending upon your needs.

Full Dentures

Sometimes, we lose the majority (or all) of our teeth. This might be due to injury or simply the aging process. When that happens, it is important to quickly find a replacement option that works for your needs and your goals. After all, your teeth serve an important role in your life! They enable you to speak freely and eat your favorite foods, both activities that would be sorely missed if no longer available. When you lose all of your teeth, one of quickest options for tooth replacement is a full denture. Full dentures are designed to replace an entire mouthful of teeth in one shot. They are removable, which means that they fit over your gums and use suction and gravity to stay in place.

Partial Dentures

Partials are a type of denture that is used when you still have some healthy teeth left in your mouth but have lost a few teeth in a row, leaving your mouth with a gap. This gap can create problems for your remaining teeth, so it is important to fill it as quickly as is possible. This is where partial dentures come in. Partial dentures are, much like full dentures, created to replace some teeth at once. They are designed to match yourself and should help you maintain your ability to speak and eat. They are also removable, which means that you can take them out and clean them every day.

Implant Supported Dentures

For a more durable and permanent solution, we can also offer dental implant supported dentures. What makes implant supported dentures different from regular dentures is how they are placed in your mouth. Regular dentures rest on your gums, whereas implant supported dentures snap onto special attachments that we place on dental implants inside of your mouth.

Benefits of Dentures

The benefits of dentures should be fairly clear! With them, you can keep your natural smile while also maintaining your ability to speak and eat. Dentures can also help restore or maintain your confidence by ensuring that you have a healthy smile that looks just as bright as your natural one did. Additionally, dentures help keep the overall structure of your mouth and facial features, which can help prevent sagging.
